Mr. Paris joined the Town of Midland on June 1, 2015. He is an experienced public executive with ten years of municipal management experience. He has previously served within North Carolina in the roles of Assistant City Manager, Interim City Manager, and City Manager.
Mr. Paris holds a Bachelor degree in Political Science from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Government. In addition, he was certified in Human Resources Management by Duke University and High Performing Organizations by the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia.
Mr Paris serves on the Board of Directors of the Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation, Cabarrus-Rowan Metropolitan Planning Organization, and the Centralina Council of Government Regional Managers Committee.
Mr. Paris was highlighted in 2017 by the International City & County Managers Association's (ICMA) Life, Well Run initiative here. Mr. Paris was also highlighted in 2016 as part of Cabarrus Conversations here.
During Mr. Paris' tenure, the Town of Midland has expanded its tax base through several voluntary annexations, most recently extending the town limits to the Meklenburg County line. As a result, the town is now 2.5 miles from the Charlotte city limits. You can read more about that voluntary annexation here. Over the last three years the town's tax base has grown a combined 17.8% as a result of development and voluntary annexations.
The Town of Midland 2017 municipal election was the first unopposed election in the town's history, and the only unopposed election in Cabarrus County during 2017. You can read more about that election here.
